At the 2019 Mexican Grand Prix, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton triumphed in a nail-biting finale after an ambitious one-stop strategy worked out to win out from Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and his Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas.
Having lost his pole position on Saturday and being handed a three-place grid drop for failing to slow sufficiently for yellow flags, Max Verstappen endured a Mexican Grand Prix to forget. On lap four the Dutchman made contact with Bottas causing a puncture that saw him forced to recover to a sixth place, after a mammoth 66-lap stint on hard tyres.
Meanwhile, teammate Alex Albon drove to a solid fifth place, after starting the race from the same position.
