After being off the calendar for 35 seasons, the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort returned in 2021 and since then it has been a fortress for Max and his ever-growing Orange Army. Max has taken every win since the track’s return, and in 2023 he made it a hat-trick. If he wins this year, he’ll equal Jim Clark’s record of winning the Dutch Grand Prix four times.
Drivers have previously described the track as “really quick” & “a little bit crazy”. Among the 14 turns, the track has two DRS zones, offering plenty of overtaking opportunities through the high-speed sweeping turns. However, the grip levels of the track can change depending on the direction of the wind which can often lead to a more thrilling race.
Since its return, Zandvoort has turned into a Max Verstappen fortress. He has won every race in his home country and if he wins this weekend, he’ll equal Jim Clark’s record of four Dutch Grand Prix victories. Checo crossed the finish line in third in 2023 but was given a five-second penalty for speeding in the pitlane. Could this be his year to stand on the podium in front of the Orange Army? We’ll find out soon enough.
Max and Checo will be taking to the track for first time in three weeks on Friday at 12:30 track time (10:30 UTC) for Free Practice One. Make sure you come back then for all the latest news, images, and videos from Oracle Red Bull Racing.
