Max took his seventh podium finish of 2020 with a controlled drive to P2 at the Russian Grand Prix after championship leader Lewis Hamilton was dropped to P3 by a brace of early-race time penalties that allowed Mercedes’ teammate Valtteri Bottas to assume the lead and score his first win since the opening race of the season.
While Max enjoyed relatively serene progress to the flag, it was another eventful race for Alex who took a gearbox penalty before the start and lined up on the grid in P15. After an early pit stop under the safety car he rose and fell through the order on his way to an eventual P10 at the flag.
