When Zhou Guanyu’s Alfa Romeo flipped and ended up in the catch fence at turn one, it took mere moments for the medical team and marshals to get to the stricken driver and ensure he was safe. Plenty of other cars were involved including Alex Albon who was spun into the wall on the start/finish straight. Both Albon and Zhou were sent to the medical centre for further tests and the quick actions of the marshals and medical team ensured that both drivers were safe, given a clean bill of health and will be able to race in Austria this weekend.

It was always going to be an interesting start with Max in P2, but the Dutchman got away exceptionally well and was in front by turn one. He was pulling away and could’ve built up an early lead, unfortunately we’ll never know what might have happened due to the red flags being shown instantly.

At the restart of the race Checo collided with Charles Leclerc which caused damage to his front wing. On lap five the Mexican had to pull into the pits to have a new wing put on his RB18. He re-joined the track in last (or P17 due to the three cars that had already retired). As the race got into its rhythm, drivers around Checo started to pit and by lap 22, he was up to P8, 1.9s behind seventh-placed Esteban Ocon.
On lap 35 Checo was up in P4 behind Lewis Hamilton in P3 and Charles Leclerc in second, when Ocon’s car lost power on lap 39 the Safety Car was deployed. It gave teams the opportunity to change tyres and Checo was called into the pits for a set of soft rubber. The Safety Car left the track at the end of lap 42 and created an epic battle for P2 in the remaining 10 laps. Leclerc, Checo and Hamilton tussled furiously for position and on lap 46 it was Checo who emerged in second ahead of the Ferrari and the Mercedes.

Just 12 laps into the race, Max drove over some carbon and slowed down. He thought he had a puncture, so pulled into the pits. What actually happened was that the carbon damaged the floor of Max’s RB18 meaning he lost 20% of his downforce – a huge amount on the super-fast Silverstone circuit.
Max came out in P6 and said over the radio to GP that his car was “100% broken.” GP explained that it was floor damage, but he could continue the race.
And even with that amount of damage, Max was still able to keep his car in the points and finished seventh, even fending of Haas’ Mick Schumacher in the closing laps. A testament to Max’s driving ability.

The Seventh Podium In A Row For The Bulls, All Thanks To Checo© Getty Images
The British Grand Prix was the 10th race of the season and with Checo’s podium it means that for the last nine races in a row, we’ve had at least one Bull on the podium. Out of the 10 races it includes seven wins, six to Max, one to Checo and three one-two finishes. And with our home race in Austria up next, will we see that streak continue?
