If one thing is guaranteed for a Texas-based watch party, it’s that you and your guests are going to leave full. Texans are proud of their famous dishes which include beef brisket, chilli, chicken fried steak, pecan pie, hamburgers and of course Tex-Mex, all food that’s good for the soul.
To make life easy for your party, we recommend going down the Tex-Mex route, although a big bowl of chilli is also a solid winner. Fajitas and tacos can be put on the table and then you and your guests can make their own when they want. If you are going to make a traditional Texan chilli, we’ve got a tip for you; don’t use tomatoes or tomato paste, use chilli paste and peppers instead. And whilst we’re offering you tips, to make the best pecan pie use cold butter when making the pie crust.
Unsurprisingly, the best-selling beers in Texas are Lone Star and Shiner Bock, but it’s not just a beer-swilling state, Texans can often be found sipping a cool, refreshing margarita. Texas is also home to some iconic distilleries, including Tito’s, Dripping Springs Artisan Gin, Railean Rum, and Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
While there are a lot of options for an Austin-themed drink, we’re of course going to recommend a Red Bull mocktail to keep you awake for all of the track action. For this round, it’s got to be the Orange Cardamon Mojito. To make it, you’ll need cardamom pods, mint or mojito syrup, an orange, ice, one can of Red Bull sugar free, and don’t forget your orange wedges for garnish.
