Before Sunday’s final, the Bulls had to qualify via a semi-final match-up against three other teams; Lazarus, Fast Racers Forza, and Virtual Drivers, with the top two going through. The first race took place at Laguna Seca, where this season’s standout performer Laige crossed the chequered flag in first place to take victory for the Team.
Laige then proceeded to win the next three races at Long Beach, Road Atlanta & Silverstone, getting 80 points for the Team in total. Teammates Robin ‘Box’ Betka & Zach ‘Venom’ Taylor held off competition from other drivers to get 18 points each, and the Team qualified for Sunday’s final in first place with 116 points – 20 more than Lazarus in second.
On Sunday, the Bulls faced off against semi-final rivals Lazarus, Williams Esports & Sauber Esports. Laige continued where he left off in the last round. Starting on pole at Mugello, he held the position to the chequered flag finishing in first place to give the Team the best possible start.
It was becoming an extraordinary day for the French driver and three more wins followed at Nurburgring, Sebring & Road America, to secure another 80-point haul, just as he did in the semi-final. With Box’s 25 points and Venom’s tally of 18, the Team cruised to a 33-point win its first trophy in esports.
Team Manager Alexandre ‘Asix’ Arnou said: “What can I say, Laige is amazing, nothing to say more than that. We worked so hard with the build and the training this week. I just can’t find the words to thank them. That was an amazing week and an amazing season.”
Laige finished the season with 16 wins from 18 races, achieving his fourth Forza Racing Championship in the process and his first as part of a team.
“Some people said he [Laige] can win individually so maybe he [Laige] can’t win in a group, but today that happened and I’m happy about that,” Laige said.
When asked how he would celebrate, Laige replied with something the entire Red Bull Family will be able to appreciate.
“We’re just going back to the house for now and have some Red Bulls!”
Our Forza Team will now be looking to continue their good form and compete for more silverware in the Le Mans Esports Pro Teams Series which starts this weekend, Saturday 19:00 GMT.
