Suited and Booted With SparcoOracle Red Bull Racing welcome Sparco as Technical Racewear Supplier

OracleRedBullRacing

Founded in Turin in 1977, the Sparco name has become synonymous with motorsport safety and performance. The new Superleggera suit, homologated to the FIA 8856-2018 standard, was created as a natural evolution of Sparco's historic Superleggera suit, which in the early 2000s offered a compound that not only complied with the FIA 8856-2000 standard, but stood as the lightest suit of its time, weighing some 20 percent less than comparable suits.
Max and Checo’s new Superleggera suits will be complemented with X-Light+ shoes, Arrow Biotech gloves and Sparco underwear, all in the Team’s distinctive design and featuring iconic Oracle Red Bull Racing branding - offering performance gains through industry-leading weight reduction technology.
Last but not least is the FORMULA H-10 seat belt, which is the result of Sparco's research and innovation in recent years in the field of safety inside Formula cars. Sparco's R&D technical department has designed each belt component with the aim of reducing weight and size while maintaining the same mechanical performance. This is why the buckle is machined from titanium and aluminium billet; the adjusters are machined from aluminium billet.
After the hardware component, the Sparco R&D clothing department carried out hard research and development work on the fabrics to find the ultra-lightweight belt used in this harness with a specific weight of less than 40gr/m (less than half the specific weight of other belts approved for race use). For these reasons, the FORMULA H-10 is the lightest belt in F1.
The Race Team members will be equipped with a dedicated line of products derived from Sparco’s Competition overalls and Tide Meca gloves in order to meet all the comfort and safety requirements according to the Team’s specific design and performance requirements.
The Superleggera suit is fully customisable according to the driver's needs and is one of the lightest on the market. It includes an ultra-lightweight zip, concealed by a fireproof cover flap that guarantees the highest level of safety, an ultra-thin collar designed specifically for use in F1, seamless cuffs, extra-thin seams and custom-made stretch panels that ensure the driver's mobility and comfort during the race.
Christian Horner, Oracle Red Bull Racing Team principal and CEO said: “Ensuring that our drivers and our Race Team are kept as safe as possible is always our first priority. Sparco has been at the forefront of racewear safety for more than four decades and we’re delighted to welcome them to the Team. The fact that their dedication to safety is matched by the pursuit of performance and lightness, key considerations in racing, makes the collaboration even more exciting.”
Aldino Bellazzini, Sparco President and CEO added: “Sparco is a technologically driven corporation characterized by continuous research and development to meet all the best performance, safety and quality standards. We look at this partnership as an opportunity to further challenge ourselves. This is the reason behind the long-term collaborations and partnerships we have already developed with several different players in motorsport. We strongly believe that Oracle Red Bull Racing will represent a huge opportunity for Sparco to continue and progress on this path and we are honoured they have chosen Sparco for the upcoming season and beyond".
