Enrico kicked off his journey to motorsport by studying aerospace engineering at the Politecnico di Torino. Following graduation he spent a year at France’s ISAE-Supaero in Toulouse, one of the world’s top aerospace engineering schools. But while he then spent a brief spell at Airbus in Toulouse, Enrico was already exploring the world of motorsport and after another period of study at Adrian Newey’s alma mater, Southampton University, he embarked on what has turned out to be a stellar F1 career.
Working for the aerodynamics consultancy company Fondtech, founded by famed aerodynamicist Jean Claude Migeot, Enrico began by contributing to the aero testing and development of the Renault that won world titles in 2005 and 2006.
During 2006 Enrico made the switch to the Williams team, taking on the role of trackside aerodynamicist from 2008 to 2010 before becoming Aerodynamics Team leader. In 2013 he moved to the Mercedes F1 team, where in the role of Future Car Aerodynamic Group Leader, he contributed to the design of the team’s Mercedes F1 championship winning cars from 2014-2018.
However, in 2018, he took on a new challenge, joining Red Bull Racing as the Team’s Principal Aerodynamicist. In 2020 he stepped up to head up aerodynamic development and the following year took on his current role as Head of Aerodynamics.
And in that position Enrico has contributed to the design and aerodynamic development of a whole new series of championship-winning machines, our own RB16B, RB18 and the RB19, the most successful car in F1 history.
